Frequently Asked Questions

Five Large, Medium, and Small Panoramic Eggs, decorated with pastel icing and showing panorama inner scenes in sugar

What are Panoramic Sugar Eggs?

The eggs are made of pure cane sugar (what more can a child want?), decorated with royal icing, and the green "grass" inside is made from shredded coconut.  Keeping with tradition, the decorations inside are edible in nature unless you opt for a different inclusion. They are filled with carefully handcrafted icing decorations, bunnies, lambs, chicks and ducklings, flowers, and jellybean or candy-coated sunflower seed eggs; for older children and adults I can also use miniature figurines, charms, silk flowers, or collectibles by special request. They are intended for decorative purposes only.

What are the actual sizes of each Sugar Egg?

The approximate dimensions of the eggs (in inches with longest side first).  With icing decorations they are slightly larger than noted, measurements were taken off the sugar shell:

Large Panoramic Egg - 6.5" x 4.5" x 4"

Medium Panoramic Egg - 4.5" x 3.5" x 3"

Small Panoramic Egg - 3.5" x 2.5" x 2.5"

Can we keep them for display?

Panoramic SugarEggs can last years, decades even, when properly cared for.  As long as you keep them safe from the main two dangers (moisture and hungry children), they will last for years.  For best preservation,  keep out of  sunlight and away from moisture.  Humidity in the air can cause deterioration, they are best stored in a dry environment.  Sunlight can fade the icing colors (made with food safe dyes). Instructions detailing the best methods of preservation for display will be included with every order.

How do you make them?

Magic, with a little help from the Easter Guru himself, the Big Bunny!  Each Sugar Egg is painstakingly handcrafted from scratch.  Much time is spent sculpting each individual sugar shell, the hand-iced Easter characters and flowers, and creating the inner scene-these are not a mass-produced item! We make all of the royal icing decorations by hand on site, and the creation process for a Sugar Egg requires several days.

How do you ship them?

Each egg is individually shrink-wrapped, carefully insulated in bubble-wrap and packaged securely, nestled in Easter Basket style 'grass' or paper shreds. Guaranteed to arrive in one piece! Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail.  We can ship internationally to many countries.

How much is shipping?

We try to charge as close to actual shipping costs as possible. One or two small eggs or one medium egg will ship anywhere in the US for $7.50.  One large egg or two medium eggs ship for $9.  Four mediums or two larges ship for $14.  Prices for larger quantities are the actual shipping cost, determined by the total weight and zone.

The Sugar Egg I would like to order is a gift, can you send it directly to the recipient?

No problem!  No invoice will be included, only a sheet on the care and history of the Sugar Egg tradition and colored Easter grass fluffing up the package. We are happy to include a gift note if desired! Please be sure (if paying through Paypal) that the recipient's shipping address is correct when you checkout.

What Icing Colors are available?

Pastel colors - lavender, pink, soft blue, spring green, yellow, aqua, & white are included.  If you need a custom color, you may submit a request. If it is workable we can make that custom color for a nominal fee.

What do you use inside the Panoramic Eggs to make the inner scene?

We painstakingly craft our own hand-iced decorations (bunnies, ducklings, lambs, flowers, bees & butterflies) with royal icing. We can also use small resin Easter figurines (bunnies, chicks, ducklings, and lambs), silver or pewter crosses, charms, gourmet jelly beans, candy-coated sunflower seeds, iced or silk flowers, and shredded coconut 'grass'.  Resin/ceramic figurines only on an as-available basis, and if you have something special to include, we are open to hearing your ideas!  We have designed many unique eggs for our customers.

I can't begin to decide with all the options, can you just design a Sugar egg for me?

No problem!  All the choices available can be overwhelming-if you would prefer just to specify basics we would be happy to design an egg for you.  It would help if you specified an age/gender or favorite color to give us a starting point, but however much (or little) you want to suggest is fine.

Can you make a non-Easter themed Sugar Egg?

Definitely!  We have made eggs with different themes, ranging from Baptism/Christening, Wedding, Good Shepherd, birthday, sports, tea party, ballerina, forest animals, fairy, horse & western, wedding/bridal, pets, and favorite characters!  If you have an idea about something that you don't see offered, please send an email detailing what you would like.  If these require unusual icing colors or custom figures for the inside, additional charges will apply.

Your order form is unavailable, or says you cannot accept orders right now-why is that?

We are a small family business, and crafting sugar eggs is a skill that is very time consuming!  During the peak times and busy pre-Easter season, occasionally we have to pause taking new orders to finish crafting those already received.  As soon as we are caught up to schedule, the order form will be reopened and new orders accepted. Your patience is appreciated!
